Top Ten Wide Receivers in the NFL

Here is my list of the best wide receivers in the NFL during the 2008 season.

10. Steve Smith: He has a lot of experience, having been to a Super Bowl. He’s been good for most of his career. This season he has four touchdowns and nearly 700 receiving yards.

9. Santana Moss: More scratchy than others on this list. You never know when Moss is going to beat the crap out of you, but when he does, watch out! He is averaging 14.3 yards per reception.

8. TJ Houshmandzadeh: It’s as hard to spell his name as it is to cover for defensive backs. He’s having a stellar year in 2008. It would be even better if he had a good quarterback throwing him the ball.

7. Roddy White: Now that they have a good quarterback in Atlanta, Roddy White has blossomed. He already has 900 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns!

6. Brandon Marshall: Marshall is already starting to stand out this year with Cutler taking his lead. He hauled in 18 receptions in a game this year against the San Diego Chargers, which set a record for most in a game.

5. Reggie Wayne: Now that he’s further out of Marvin Harrison’s shadow, Wayne is playing as well as ever. He has been one of Peyton Manning’s top targets for the past four years and he will only develop more.

4. Larry Fitzgerald: Now that Kurt Warner has been on fire, Fitzgerald will be too. His stats have been incredible so far, he has almost 940 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns.

3. Greg Jennings: He’s been really impressive this year since he was virtually unknown before this season. Aaron Rodger loves to pass it on and will continue to do so. He has five touchdowns and averages around 86 receiving yards a game.

2. Calvin Johnson: Nicknamed ‘Megatron’ probably due to his size and build and the fact that he is ruthlessly efficient. There is no cornerback for Optimus Prime who seems to be able to protect him. This on top of the fact that he has a nameless quarterback throwing to him and still putting up impressive numbers. He will be the main target of Roy Williams’ march to Dallas.

1. Anquan Boldin: If there’s one guy you know will drop the ball when you throw a Hail Mary, Boldin is that guy. He’s one of Kurt Warner’s favorite targets in that impressive Cardinals offense. Most Super Bowl teams seem to have a Michael Irvin or Jerry Rice type guy. Well, the Cardinals are lucky to have two high-caliber receivers.
